Module 3 of 6 · 4 minutes
What it really costs
Pick one thing you sell every single day.
Driving a taxi? This one isn't for you. Your fare isn't yours to set. Module 4 is the one to do.
Nothing you type here is sent anywhere.
The idea
Your cost isn't what you paid.
It's what it cost to get it onto your shelf and out the door.
The wholesaler's price is only the first of four numbers. The other three are the ones that quietly eat the money.
The cost side
Four numbers
Taxi or petrol, both ways, plus the airtime to order.
Everything, not just this item. Rough is fine.
Gone off, broken, taken. Guess high, you'll still be under.
Your real cost
The answer
The shop next door is cheaper
Then it's a loss leader, and that's allowed. But choose it on purpose. Discovering it by accident is the part that costs you.
The trip was for everything, not this
That's why you divided it by how many things you brought back. Rough is fine. Rough beats nothing by a long way.
I hardly lose any
On bread, milk and vegetables you lose more than you think. Try it again with one more out of ten and see how much it moves.
One item down. The method is the same for everything else on the shelf.
Module 4, Full tin, empty shelf, is the next one.
